There were many tributes to Marilyn for her 75th birthday on June 1!
Marilyn's most significant Fox movies were released on DVD for
the first time on May 29; they were also re-released on VHS.

American Movie Classics
broadcast Marilyn Monroe: The Final Days, a special documentary
about Marilyn, on June 1. This included
much restored footage from Marilyn's final, uncompleted
film, Something's Got to Give.
The Fox Movie Channel
broadcast many of Marilyn's movies throughout the month
of June, and its online site ran daily givaways of MM
DVD sets. At the end of the month, they gave away a $2,000
gift certificate.
TV Guide has four
collector's covers of Marilyn for its May 12 issue. Three feature
beautiful color photographs by Milton H. Greene; the fourth
features Warhol's Marilyn and is available only online (buy
it here). The magazine has illustrated stories on Marilyn and her
movies, and also features an article about the CBS two-part movie,
Blonde, televised in two parts on May 13 and 16.
The May/June 2001 issue of American Photo magazine has a
cover story about restoring
some of Milton Greene's
photographs of Marilyn. Page 28 of the same issue reports on the
recent
auction of Tom
Kelley's iconic red velvet images.
The June
2001 issue of Playboy
magazine includes a six-page pictorial tribute to Marilyn in honor of
her 75th birthday: Forever Marilyn. If you missed it at the

The Playboy Cyber Club pay site
also has a special
tribute to Marilyn, including 11 previously unpublished
pictures by Earl Moran; as well as photos from The
Misfits, and some special Playmate tributes to Marilyn.

Angeles magazine has an article about Marilyn at 75.

Classics. The feature includes a full page color photograph
by Milton H. Greene.
The Summer 2001 issue of Ocean
Drive magazine has a four-page illustrated feature, The
Marilyn Myth by Christopher Cooper.
There were two Marilyn-related auctions in early 2001.

has the Personal Property of Marilyn Monroe: The Berniece and Mona
Miracle Collection (proceeds to go to fund a scholarship); and
Butterfield's
has Marilyn Monroe: The Red Velvet Images. These are both
truly historic auctions.
The February 2001 issue of
Gourmet
magazine features an illustrated article called Starry,
Starry Night which describes a dinner Marilyn had in January
1960 with Arthur Miller, Yves Montand, and Simone Signoret. It was
documented by photographer
