This picture appears in the newly released book, Marilyn Monroe: From Beginning to End: a book of Earl Leaf's photographs of Marilyn, 1950- 1962. This one is a favorite of mine. It shows Marilyn on one of the happiest days of her life -- at the premiere of How To Marry a Millionaire on November 4, 1953. This picture is a case in point of Marilyn's extraordinary ability to reflect light; her luminosity even reflects onto the boy near her. In Leaf's pictures, her luminosity appears not just in this one picture, but in picture after picture. This is what led director Billy Wilder to remark that Marilyn had "flesh impact" -- flesh that photographs like flesh.
